This course was challenging but also interesting due to its extensive lessons on Japanese history in Japanese. The textbook went into detail about crucial points during the different periods in Japan, which helped enlightened me on areas of Japan's history that I did not know previously. For example, we talked about how Tokyo came to be the capital city of Japan but looked at it in Japan's point of view. We also discussed our weekly content questions to further our understanding of Japan's history. For my final project, I did an analysis on both Japan and America's national anthems' history and its problems. I thought that both were interesting and significant to their respective countries. While I did learn a great deal of Japan's history through this course, I hope to learn much more if given the time and opportunity. I believe I would learn more if I visit some of their historical sites the next time I am in Japan.
